In the fall months, beer o’clock flips over to harvest time, and you’ll definitely want to reap as many bottles of Harvest Time Pumpkin Ale as you can before time is up. It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of label art, and Big Boss kills it in that department. It’s hard to do reaper art without overdoing it, but the Harvest Time label nails it. #bigfan
Harvest Time pours a deep amber with a nearly nonexistent head. The aroma boasts a character closer to pumpkin pie than nearly any other pumpkin ale you’ll find. You get the pumpkin right off the bat, followed by cinnamon, toasty malt, and nutmeg. There’s even a hint of whipped cream!
The flavor profile has a strong pumpkin backbone with smooth vanilla and baking spices. Mouth drying cinnamon and hop citrus highlight the pumpkin flavor before fading into toasty malt and nutmeg. The flavors have an interesting mix of power and subtlety. The body is fairly light with a moderate level of carbonation, making this easily sessionable.
Harvest Time is one of the most pumpkin-forward pumpkin ales you’re going to find. The aroma tries to trick the palate into thinking heavy pumpkin pie, but the flavor profile is much more subtle than the aroma would suggest. I love how the pumpkin isn’t an afterthought. Fall tailgating parties rejoice, it’s harvest time!
