Addie’s Revenge is the Outlawed (seasonal) IPA by everyone’s favorite craft beer cowboys, Lonerider Brewing. One of the cool things about Lonerider, other than their outstanding beer, is that each brew is personified as a different old western themed character. Addie’s thirst for vengeance and my thirst for hoppy beverages seem like a perfect match. Plus, you have to a respect an outlaw that can pull off turquoise.
Addie’s pours a clear, golden amber with a decent sized head that leaves a trail of lacing as it dissipates. A stream of visible carbonation quickly escapes from the bottom to the top. The aroma is a fragrant collection of citrus, tangerine, and a hint of peach. There’s also a slight hop spice character on the nose.
The flavor has a west coast feel with a burst of grapefruit on a bed of light, biscuity malt. The citrus explosion leads into hoppy pine and a lingering bitterness. The body is light with moderate carbonation that adds some refreshing texture.
While revenge may be sweet, Addie’s revenge is an acidic punch of citrus and bitter pine. The sweet malt brings some balance to this IPA but doesn’t play a huge role in the flavor. Addie’s is both flavorful and refreshing… revenge is a dish (drink) best served cold. Cheers.
