You already know I’m ’bout to go in on this adventure turtle brew. RecreationAle (More puns! Hooray!) by Terrapin is the story of a wandering turtle nomad’s quest through the forest in search of riches, friendship, and most importantly…himself… JK, it’s a session IPA.
RecreationAle pours a bright, golden straw with a surprisingly thick head for a session IPA. The aroma is light, fresh citrus with some grassy undertones. This IPA truly gives off some serious outdoor vibes. Although you probably aren’t pouring this into a glass and inspecting the hue of the suds while you’re hiking the great outdoors, it’s great for people that only want to pretend to be outside!
The flavor packs an intense grapefruit punch surrounded by hints of lemon zest. Like the aroma, there are also some very mild grassy tones. The body is exceptionAley (see what I did there) light, true to its session ale status. There’s a rare level of flavor for a beverage this refreshing.
I must confess, I was not exploring the wilderness while I enjoyed this beverage, but I did in fact session it! However, I could definitely see myself loading up a backpack with a few of these and hitting the trails. For you couchridden building dwellers, this also makes an excellent NCAA tournament viewing beverage. There are no excuses for not drinking this!
