I’ve been on a Foothills kick lately. I guess that’s why they call me the foot soldier (nobody calls me that). After thoroughly enjoying a couple of their other IPAs, Hoppyum and Seeing Double IPA, I was eager to take a swig of this beauty. Given their track record, I’m reasonably assured that this 22 oz. will satisfy my hop tooth.
Jade IPA pours a bright, golden straw with a thick, creamy head that lasts for a considerable length of time. The appearance isn’t quite the rich amber color typically associated with IPAs. The aroma has a strong citrus character with pineapple and other fruity notes. There was also a hint of sweet malt and booziness.
The flavor continues on the theme of bright and fruity. There is a heavy grapefruit presence that is supplemented by the flavors of tropical fruit. This IPA finishes crisp with a peppery spice that closes out the flavor profile. The body is exceptionally light for a beer that is 7.4% ABV.
Jade is a crisp, flavorful IPA that packs a deceptively high ABV punch. I’m particularly impressed by the lightness of body given the depth of flavor. This IPA would pair exceptionally well with fried fish, pork, or fried rice. Hop tooth = satisfied.
