New year…New beer. In the case of SweetWater IPA, new bottle design. This light, fruity IPA is an old favorite that always seems to find its way back into my refrigerator. It also makes me crave a flaky, fried fish sandwich (probably due to the simple fact that there is a fish on the bottle). Beer munchies work in not so mysterious ways.
This IPA pours a semi-translucent, golden amber with a thin veneer of suds resting on the top. While my pouring may not be progressing as swimmingly, I’m tasting more fruit than ever! The aroma is extremely fruity with notes of grapefruit, floral citrus, and apricot. I’m going to count this as my serving of fruit for the day, fulfilling my New Year’s resolution to eat healthier.
The flavor, as you would expect, is also very fruity with distinct tropical citrus notes followed by dry, herbal bitterness that finishes crisp. The body is fairly light for an IPA, making this beer a pretty easy-drinker. These qualities actually make this a rather refreshing IPA and a nice post-lawn mowing beverage.
SweetWater IPA is a mainstay in my household that has swam its way right into my <3. If that wasn’t sappy enough for you, you can always adopt a SweetWaterBuddy to warm your heart even more. Anyway, I’m off to get a fish sandwich.
