Dissenter Imperial IPL by Founders is a rebellious nonconformist indeed (thanks thesaurus). Like the shadowy 1950’s hipster on the bottle, this confused brew doesn’t really belong in any of the traditional classifications. However, like his mommy always said, that’s what makes him special! :)
This India pale lager pours a bright golden straw that contradicts the dismal scene from the bottle art. There’s a thin head that leaves slight traces of lace as it dissipates (I’m a gangsta rapper on the weekends). The aroma is fresh and grassy with hints of citrus. Picture a lawn mower chopping through a bushel of grapefruit. On second thought, don’t…
The flavors resonate with the aroma in a bright symphony of fruity citrus and piney bitterness. This IPL has the flavor profile of an IPA with the light, drinkable body of a lager. While not as light as your every day lager, this is one of the easiest drinking 8.7%ers I’ve ever poured. Truly a masterpiece!
I must say, the outcast wins again with this expertly crafted, unconventional beverage. Dissenter Imperial IPL has the bold flavors of a proper IPA bundled neatly in a lager package that has the potential to unite snobby craft enthusiasts with Swill Lite chuggers across the world…JK.
